I don’t know why I never noticed this before… I always just assumed that their pupils would grow or shrink based on light. I wanted to try and film Metroid’s eyes doing this (it took a while because the boy is quite camera shy). I finally captured it, with a bonus big up-close yawn at the beginning:

This is actually pretty common among animals. Their eyes will dilate when they see something ‘interesting’. For obvious reasons, dilating their eyes will allow them to see better, letting in more light. Very cool you got it captured! 🙂

Wow that is mos def noticeable! I know we humans also do that when we see interesting or attractive stuff.
