Singing Sunflower Pet

This post is for the World of Warcraft players out there: TotalHalibut (a youtube member who has been keeping the public up-to-date with the Cataclysm beta) just posted a video previewing the Plants vs. Zombies quest that you’ll be able to play once the expansion comes out. Besides being fun and kind of novel if you’re into PvZ, you get a pretty cool reward for finishing the quest: a “singing sunflower” pet! I actually had no idea this information was public until Hashimoto linked me to TotalHalibut’s video earlier tonight… incidentally, I was right in the middle of recording the sunflower’s voice when I watched it ^_^ I am so excited about voicing a WoW-pet because what can I say… I’m a big nerd 😛

I might just have to start playing WoW now!
Comment by KM— September 30, 2010 #
You totally should! But only in moderation of course, haha 😛 I think I play WoW totally differently than most people… I’m much more interested in goofing around and exploring (it’s a wonder I managed to get my character to lvl 71)

Totalbiscuit posted another video showcasing the sunflower with its “doobeedoobeedoobeedoobee~” melody.
It was so cute I squee’d and nearly had a heart attack.

LOLZ this is really something funny to watch! PvZ with WoW theme! Well, never seen that coming!
Comment by Ken— September 20, 2010 #
Peacebloom and gouls! ROTFLMAO, seriously…. But I like the idea 😀
Comment by Ken— September 20, 2010 #
Hahaha… I can’t wait to actually play it, so far I’ve only seen previews since I’m not on the Cataclysm beta (which is probably for the best, haha).

[…] On her blog today, Shigihara confirmed that her voice will be used for the companion pet, the Singing Sunflower, which players receive after completing the Peacebloom versus Ghouls minigame in Hillsbrad. How awesome is that? Besides being fun and kind of novel if you’re into PvZ, you get a pretty cool reward for finishing the quest: a “singing sunflower” pet! I actually had no idea this information was public until Hashimoto linked me to TotalHalibut’s video earlier tonight… incidentally, I was right in the middle of recording the sunflower’s voice when I watched it. ^_^ I am so excited about voicing a WoW-pet because what can I say … I’m a big nerd. Bahaha shigi, now that’s just fantastic. Now you can harmonize yourself while playing WoW.
Comment by Kan|Reives— September 20, 2010 #
Hehe, thanks Reives! I’m not sure I’ll be able to harmonize with my the weird beeps and bops I recorded, but that would be funny 😛 Do you think you’ll play any Cataclysm? Also, I know I asked you this before, but which races/classes did you play back when you were playing…

Ok, this is just not fair. I’ve been free of my WOW addiction for almost three years nwo and then you throw THIS at me! I can only resist so much!! Falling off the WoW sobriety wagon in 5…4…3…
Congrats on your nerdchievment 🙂
Comment by David K.— September 20, 2010 #
Aww… I’m sorry! And thank-you, “nerdchievment” is a great way to put it, haha ^_^

Wow! That is totally awesome. I may actually have to re-subscribe just to try it out a bit. Your voice is actually going to be in WoW? That’s amazing. You’ve definitely earned some more cool points.
Comment by Nojh— September 20, 2010 #
Thanks Nojh! I can’t wait to see it in-game, I’m really curious what the final pet-art will look like!
Comment by shigi— September 29, 2010 #
Congrats Laura! This is so geekily awesome, I can’t wait to get the pet..
Countdown to Cataclysm just got more exciting!
Comment by Stacy— September 20, 2010 #
Thank-you Stacy! I can’t wait to try out the expansion… are you going to play one of the new race-class combos?
Comment by shigi— September 29, 2010 #
Congratu;ations!! I wish I played WoW xD
Comment by Puddinguin— September 20, 2010 #
Thanks Puddinguin! Maybe it’s a good thing you don’t play WoW — there’s too many folks who wish they could quit but can’t because they’re too addicted 😛 Thankfully I’m not totally addicted, I play more because I like exploring and goofing off with friends, hehe 🙂

Just discovered you’re music recently and have since played through PvZ, because the song was hilarious and it turns out the game was too 😀
Congratulations on the part in WoW. I’ll certainly be making my way to this part of Cataclysm as fast as I can.

Interesting idea… and your voice as a WoW pet. What do you have to do for video game voice acting?
Comment by Davixus— September 21, 2010 #
It’s fun… I think it’s probably similar to voice acting for cartoons. You have to try and “get into character”… and if you’re writing your own lines or helping to come up with them, you usually want to try a variety of different ideas in order to see which turn out best.
Comment by shigi— September 29, 2010 #
So it actually sings? Does it sing “there’s a ghoul on your lawn” or something? 😛
Comment by Mattwo— September 22, 2010 #
Hehe, I don’t actually say that, but I did do a lot of silly noises 😛 I’m not actually sure which sound files they went with, but a lot of them revolve around the Zombies on your Lawn tune.
Comment by shigi— September 29, 2010 #
lol this looks pretty cool to me. Think its a clever idea
Comment by wow rare spawn— September 22, 2010 #
Thanks, yeah I can’t wait to see the pet in the game!
Comment by shigi— September 29, 2010 #
Aw man, that might be the one reason for me to actually get WoW. You’re actually going to be voicing for the sunflower prize? That’s awesome!
Comment by aniki91344— September 23, 2010 #
Thanks aniki! I know I’m a big nerd because I’m actually really excited about it, hehe… what characters did you play in WoW? My main is a Blood Elf Hunter.

Hey guys I love Laura she is good and I don’t think that the sunflower is her pet it is who she likes in plants versus zombies
Comment by Zoe— November 1, 2010 #
This pet is awesome. I wondered if it was voiced by the same person, and now I know 😀 I really wanted the Singing Sunflower to sing the Zombie on my lawn bit, but I haven’t seen it so far 😦
By the way, that song is hillarious and is only made funnier by that very sickly sweet and cute voice singing it. I love it.
Comment by Adrian— December 1, 2010 #
It does sing the line “There’s a zombie on your lawn” but that’s about it. It also vocalizes it like dobe do do do do or something.
Comment by Mattwo— December 2, 2010 #
They removed the repeatable part after I re-subscribed Q.Q. I really hope Cata isn’t required for it.
Also the sunflower sounds like a baby lol.
